Avast ultimate is a security software with an excellent detection rate and great extra features. Its malware scanner earned an excellent score in my tests and its web protection blocked many phishing sites that got past Chrome and Firefox’s default security features. Other features include a Rescue Disk, a secure browser for online shopping and banking, advanced tracker blocking, and a VPN.
The interface for users of the suite is intuitive. The main screen displays an overview of its primary tools with clear icons to describe their functions. Avast employs an orange, blue, and white color scheme that’s pleasing to the eyes and easy to read.
You will find the precise control options for each tool in the Explore menu. These include custom scans and boot time scanning and an automatic updater. You can also save specific types of scans in the “Scan Center”, so you can run them again at a future date.
Avast’s advanced features can help prevent ransomware by monitoring your computer for suspicious activity, and encrypting files that could have been targeted. It can identify trojan data centers horses (malicious programs disguised as legitimate software and infiltrate your computer) and block them from running.
Avast offers 24/7 phone, email and live chat support. The free versions of the product are backed by a comprehensive community and knowledge base and paid plans offer advanced features like identity protection and unlimited VPN, USB protection and patch management.
